In the wireless world in the U.S., the phrase "Plus ca change, plus ca reste la meme," would be very appropriate.

Seven years ago, when I worked for Powertel (a regional wireless start-up in the United States) we offered night and weekend hours starting at 7 p.m. It was a big success. Customers loved it.

However, when the company was acquired by VoiceStream, the nights and weekend hours were changed to either 9 p.m. or midnight (I can't recall the exact hour). We had to notify all the Powertel customers about the change - and they weren't happy.

Thus, in my experience, whenever a wireless company - or any company - offers a bonus in the form of free minutes or something else, they have to be prepared to honor that bonus forever. Otherwise, they risk seriously poking their customers in the eye. :)
